Human
Biospecimens
We provide our clients with a wide range of human biospecimens readily available from our inventory for immediate ordering. Additionally, biospecimens can be collected prospectively in a timely manner, tailored to the specific needs and objectives of your project.
BioPartners collects all biospecimens from a broad network of professional clinical institutions, adhering strictly to regulatory and ethical standards, with each collection covered by signed patient Informed Consent Forms.
All specimens are accompanied by detailed pathology information and data sourced from patient medical records and laboratory reports. These data undergo anonymization or pseudonymization and are handled, stored, and transferred in full compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), GDPR, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations.
Our primary specialization lies in oncology projects, where we procure tissue biospecimens following either our standard protocols or according to specific client orders.
Annually, we expand our network of clinical sites to include new medical and scientific centers, thereby enhancing access to high-quality tumor and normal tissue samples.
We offer various types of tissue samples, which can be supplemented with blood specimens (whole blood, plasma, serum, buffy coat, PBMC) or other specimen types (urine, feces, ascitic fluid, sputum, saliva, etc.), collected according to our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or tailored to client specifications outlined in the Project Specification.
Services for biospecimen collection encompass a range of activities and capabilities designed to acquire biological samples for research, clinical trials, diagnostics, or other scientific investigations. Here’s a structured description of services typically offered in biospecimen collection:
- Consultation and Planning: Experienced professionals consult with researchers or healthcare providers to understand specific needs and objectives related to biospecimen collection. They assist in developing a customized collection protocol tailored to the study’s requirements.
- Sample Collection: Trained personnel perform the collection of biospecimens using standardized procedures. This may involve:
- Phlebotomy: Drawing blood samples using venipuncture techniques.
- Tissue Biopsy: Obtaining tissue samples through surgical or needle biopsy procedures.
- Fluid Collection: Taking samples such as urine, saliva, cerebrospinal fluid, etc.
- Specimen Processing: Immediate processing of samples to prepare them for storage or analysis.
- Logistics and Coordination: Managing logistical aspects such as scheduling, transportation, and coordination between collection sites and laboratories. Ensuring samples are properly labeled, documented, and securely transported following regulatory guidelines.
- Quality Assurance: Implementing quality control measures throughout the collection process to maintain sample integrity and minimize variability. This includes adherence to standardized protocols, handling samples under controlled conditions, and ensuring proper storage and preservation methods.
- Ethical and Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements governing biospecimen collection. This includes obtaining informed consent from participants, protecting privacy and confidentiality, and adhering to institutional and governmental guidelines.
- Storage and Biobanking: Facilities equipped with state-of-the-art storage infrastructure for short-term and long-term preservation of biospecimens. This also include storage ultra-low temperature freezers and databases for tracking specimens.
- Customization and Flexibility: Offering flexibility to accommodate specific study needs, such as specialized sample collection protocols, sample processing requirements, or customized reporting formats.
- Data Management: Providing systems for tracking and managing sample information, including metadata associated with each biospecimen, to ensure traceability and facilitate data sharing.
- Scientific Support: Offering expertise and technical support to researchers throughout the biospecimen collection process, including protocol development, troubleshooting, and interpretation of results.
