shutterstock_75519850BioPartners, Inc. collects biosamples from around the world which is what allows us to participate in both large and small prospective collections for even the rarest diseases while simultaneously building our biobank stock. We have clinics actively collecting samples from patients with a wide range of diseases including all types of Oncology, Hematology, Autoimmune, Rheumatology, and Metabolic Disorders to name just a few. We are in the process of cementing a partnership with a large dermatology center in the United States as well as several major clinics in Central and Eastern Europe to further expand the range and rate of samples we can procure. If it is biospecimens you need, we are your source. If we don’t currently collect the sample type you need for your project then we will open a new partnership with a clinic that can source your desired samples.

Our samples are derived from a geographically diverse population of diseased human patients as well as from the normal tissues of both diseased patients as well as healthy donors. All samples are accompanied by thorough pathological and clinical data and if your protocol calls for additional data or specific testing we are happy to arrange this. Our central labs are equipped to handle nearly any request so please let us know what you need and we will get it sourced!

All of our FFPE tissues are collected by our experienced and certified pathologists to ensure that the tissue is properly identified with the correct diagnosis and that the protocol for FFPE preparation is followed to the letter in exactly the same way every time. Our FFPE tissues are fixed in a 10% neutral-buffered formalin within 30 minutes of surgery excision. Tissue samples are fixed for a maximum of 16 hours before being embedded in IHC-grade paraffin. Our standard sample size is 1cm x 1cm x 0.5cm but can vary based upon the nature of the particular disease as well as the tissue type.

We are also excited to offer “custom” tissues and preparations for prospective collections; tissues can be cut to different sizes as well as customizing the fixing agent and embedding medium upon your request. All of our pathologists rigorously follow BioPartners’ standard operating procedures (SOP) for FFPE tissue preparation unless they are provided with a customized protocol from a client outlining the way they would like their tissues processed. We understand that getting samples exactly the way you want them is paramount for researchers and we have taken every step to be able to offer customizations based on your sample request.

  • Matched Pairs – from the same donor; in Fresh Frozen and formalin fixed formats
    • Tumor and metastatic tissue samples
    • Tumor and normal adjacent tissue (NAT)
  • Quads – from the same donor; in both FFPE and Fresh Frozen formats
  • Paired FFPE Tumor and NAT with Fresh Frozen Tumor and NAT tissue
    • We can also include matched plasma and serum

Currently we either bank or can collect samples in the following formats:

  • FFPE Tissues
  • Fresh Frozen Tissues
  • H & E slides
  • Biopsy
  • TMA
  • Cuts
  • Curls
  • CSF
  • Urine
  • Synovial Fluid
  • Whole Blood
  • Blood Derivatives
    • Plasma
    • Serum
    • Buffy Coat
    • PBMC

If there are any other formats that your study calls for we are happy to either create a protocol for the desired format preparation or to use your protocol. Or a blending of the two. At BioPartners the satisfaction of our clients is not enough, we strive for complete fulfillment of expectations; this is why we have taken every measure to ensure we can be as flexible as our clients need us to be.

Collection of Hematological Malignancies

BioPartners specializes in the procurement of samples from diseases outside of Oncology as well. We have active collections ongoing for Hematological Diseases such as:

  • Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)
  • Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL)
  • Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML)
  • Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)

  • Hodgkin’s Disease
  • Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Blood Collections

BioPartners collects up to 30mL of whole blood from a single donor and can collect in a wide variety of blood collection tubes carrying different anticoagulants to fit the nature of your research. Our standard BCT anticoagulants are:

  • Plasma – K2EDTA
  • Serum – SST
  • PBMCs – Sodium Heparin
  • Others (upon request by our clients)

Our expert specialists can provide specimens in aliquots ranging from 0.5mL to 5mL and labeled in any format that is requested (QR, barcode, standard alpha-numeric) maintaining our patient ID. Special requests for labeling beyond that specified above are handled on a case by case basis but we will make every effort to comply with your request. PBMCs have a guaranteed viability of 85% or greater and a minimum of 106 cells. All of our bio-fluids are collected according to our standard operating procedure for each sample type unless otherwise requested by our clients.

Bone Marrow

BioPartners offers both Bone Marrow extraction as well as aspiration. Bone Marrow aspirates are typically stored in 0.5mL – 3mL aliquots and are taken from patients with Hematological malignancies. These can be tricky samples to procure so we have enlisted several clinics in Eastern Europe as well as the United States to bolster our accrual rate so that we can participate both in retrospective requests as well as prospective requests.

Other Bio-fluids and Sample Types

BioPartners has access to a wide range of human bodily fluids beyond those we routinely collect for our biobank, some of which are only collected upon request. Please inquire if any of these sample types are what you need for your project and we will alert our sites to immediately begin collecting for you.

  • Urine
  • Synovial Fluid
  • Sputum
  • Cerebrospinal Fluid
  • Saliva
  • Swabs

Our extraction protocols have been precisely developed so that our samples will meet even the most demanding standards. Changes to our collection protocols can be made for custom prospective procurement projects. Let us know what you need and we will get it for you!
